1. Mandarin
This cocktail makes for a good aperitif to serve as a pre-dinner cocktail. It’s fruity notes also make it a brunch favourite.
Ingredients
60ml Black & White whisky
4 nos. basil leaves
30ml chilled orange juice
10ml fresh lime juice
10ml passionfruit syrup
Mandarin / kaffir lime leaves, for garnish.
Method
Muddle the basil leaves.
Add the rest of the ingredients in Boston glass and fill ice.
Shake well and strain into a glass filled with crushed ice.
Garnish with a kaffir lime leaf and serve.
2. The Sailor
This apple-ly flavoured cocktail is a delicious digestif to serve after a meal.
Ingredients
60ml Black & White whisky
10ml honey syrup
3 nos. mint leaves
1/2 pinch black salt
45ml chilled apple juice
Apple slice and mint sprig, for garnish
Method
Shake all ingredients with good quality ice cubes.
Fine strain into a chilled highball glass rimmed with the black salt.
Garnish with apple slices and a mint sprig.
3. Spice Basket
This spiced up drink is aromatic, heart-warming and totally worth serving at a celebration.
Ingredients
60ml Black & White whisky
10ml homemade spice syrup
2 drops aromatic bitters
20ml fresh lime juice
Half inch fresh ginger slice
Ginger ale, to top it off
Star anise, for garnish
Method
Muddle ginger root in a Boston Glass.
Add the remaining ingredients, fill up with ice cubes.
Shake and fine strain into a highball glass filled with ice.
Top up with ginger ale and stir.
Garnish with a star anise and serve.
4. La Pina
The sweet pineapple flavour of this drink is well complemented with a dash of Tabasco. Add it to your brunch/drunch menu!
Ingredients
60ml Black & White whisky
30ml pineapple juice
15ml peach syrup
3nos fresh mint
10ml fresh lime juice
2 dash of red Tabasco
Tonic, to top it off
Pineapple slice and leaf, for garnish
Method
Put all ingredients, except tonic, into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake well until the outside of the shaker is frosted.
Fine strain into a highball glass filled with ice and top up with tonic.
Garnish with a slice of pineapple and Tabasco.
5. The Nutty Professor
This is one of the easiest cocktails you can whip up for cocktail o’clock.
Ingredients
45ml Black & White whisky
2 bar spoons almond / coconut syrup
2 dash bitters
1-piece orange twist, for garnish
Method
Fill a tall glass with good quality ice cubes.
Add all ingredients, stir until chilled.
Pour into a tumbler over an ice sphere.
Garnish with an orange twist.
6. The Terriers Sour
This cocktail is a take on the classic whisky sour and is perfect for a pre-meal cocktail or a brunch drink.
Ingredients
60ml Black & White whisky
20ml egg white
15ml fresh lime juice
10ml honey
3 drops aromatic bitters
Slice of orange, for garnish
Method
Put all ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake well until the outside of the shaker is frosted.
Fine strain into a rock glass.
Garnish with a slice of orange, bitters.
