Even if you are stuffed, you always have enough room for dessert. I love all things dessert – ice-cream, brownies, cheesecake, chocolate cake. You name it, I’ll have it! I’ll probably for ask a lick of your ice-cream and won’t let you have a taste of mine. After all, aren’t we all kids when it comes to dessert? 

 

But have you thought about the desserts around the world? From deep fried candy bars to chocolate dipped crickets. The world has gone bonkers! 

 

Check out some of the strangest and weirdest things people around the globe are having for dessert. 

 

If you ask me, I like my desserts to have visually appealing colours so that I can bite into it and enjoy. Blodplättar, or blood pancakes are made from actual blood. Pig’s blood is combined with milk, sugar, eggs, to make a batter. They are then prepared like a regular pancake and are served with Lingonberry jam. Voilà! They taste exactly like your regular pancakes as the texture is soft on the inside.

 

In Finland, Sweden and Norway, it is made of whipped blood and other ingredients. It is similar to black pudding, but is thinner and crispier. Looks like Dracula would have had it for breakfast every day!

 

There’s an unwritten rule of desserts somewhere that says “chicken and desserts don’t go together,” yet the Turkish didn’t get the memo. Tavuk göğsü is a Turkish milk pudding made with shredded chicken breast. Made from rice flour, chicken, cinnamon and sweetened milk, it is one of the most famous delicacies. Well, don’t expect to bite into a chicken leg, as this dish that was prepared for Ottoman sultans is pounded into powder as the meat is separated into very thin fibers. 

We wonder who came up with this incredible idea of mixing the two!

 

 

This dessert is sure to make your skin crawl! (At least, it did, ours) Popular in South east Asia, Cendol is an iced sweet dessert that contains droplets of worm-like green rice flour jelly, coconut milk, palm sugar syrup and ice shavings. The flavours, colours and consistency go wonderfully together.

These wasp cookies are creating a buzz in Japan! Made from a typical rice cracker recipe, wasps are added to the cracker mix and are then baked until crunchy. The taste is said to be sweet with a slightly acidic taste from the wasps. They also taste burnt, which is obvious as they were baked in a cracker.

What happened to the good old raisin? Would you eat them if you were offered a million bucks?
