The Lesser-Known Yaaris We Need To Appreciate
Before you start reading, I’d like to wish you a very Happy Women’s Day! I know, I know, everyone around you is talking about the same. But here, it’s a tad bit different. Yep, we’re going to celebrate friendship among women; the lesser-known yaaris.
You know, those random situations where random women are kind to you and they become your friends when you’re in need. I think today’s a perfect day to remember them and thank them.
Wait, let me give you a few examples:
Washroom Yaari
From the ladies who’ve heard me rant when I was not having a great day to the ladies who complimented me when I was seeking approval from the mirror. Thank you!
The Local Train Wali Yaari
To the ladies in Mumbai who’ve offered me a seat when I really needed one. Thank you for trying to squish in to make some space for me. Also, thank you for telling me which station you’re getting down at; if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have won the musical chair (local train version)
The Lift Yaari
First day to work and I was already late. Thankfully, you held the lift door open for me and welcomed me with a smile, which gave me a strange reassurance that everything was going to be okay. Thank you for that.
The Carpool Wali Yaari
I usually don’t talk much, but that day when I booked the pool ride, I met you girls and we just couldn’t stop talking. Thank you for avoiding my awkward silences and for making traffic fun.
The Shopping Yaari
I was new to the city, didn’t have many friends but I really needed to go shopping. So, I went alone. When I couldn’t decide which one to buy, I randomly asked you because you were standing right there and then, you helped me pick one. Thank you for helping me pick the best.
Now that I’ve listed down my favourite lesser know yaaris, it’s time you do the same. Let’s celebrate this Women’s Day with loads of love and gratitude for the kind strangers who have helped us in this journey of life.
