Ready To Splurge? Here Are 5 Of The Most Expensive Dishes From Around The World!
We never think twice before ordering our favourite dishes off the menu, do we?
But of course, there are certain dishes that make us look to the right side of the menu.
At times, a mere gold flake or a splash of truffle oil is enough to set the price of a dish high. But when it comes to adding heaps of gold powder or rare caviar to a dish, these restaurants do it differently.
Join us on World Food Day as we showcase the most outrageously priced dishes from all over the world!
Let’s Taco About It
This $25,000 taco is the most expensive in the world. Want to know why? Read on. The taco's foundation is a gold-infused corn tortilla, which is then layered with kobe beef and lobster. Toppings include black truffle Brie (which costs $100 per ounce) and a dollop of Beluga caviar (which costs $700 an ounce). Thinking about your bank balance, aren’t’ you?
Pass Me The Pizza, Or Don’t
Just like many classic takeaway dishes, the humble pizza has made its way into the fine-dining market, with restaurants adding their signature twists to the pie for a touch of finesse. But priced at $12,000, the Luis XIII created by Chef Renato Viola from Italy, is the most expensive one you’ll ever have! The pizza which takes 72 hours to make is topped with organic buffalo mozzarella, three types of caviar, lobster from Norway and Cilento, and is lightly dusted with handpicked grains of pink Australian sea-salt from the Murray River. Whew. I’d keep this one in a locker and not on plate!
The Patty With Panache
With a price tag of $5,000, the FleurBurger 5000 is the most expensive hamburger on Earth. Available at Fleur in the extravagant city of Las Vegas, it is made of kobe Beef, foie gras, and black truffles. Then placed on a brioche truffle bun, it’s topped with Chef Hubert Keller’s special truffle sauce. Would I pay $5,000 for a burger? If only I were a billionaire *sigh*
Strawberries And Cream And A Million Dollar Dream
The Strawberries Arnaud at Arnaud’s Restaurant in New Orleans costs $3.95 million. Yes, you read that right. How could a bowl full of lush strawberries, French vanilla ice cream, mint, port-red wine sauce and whipped cream be worth millions? It’s the 7-carat pink diamond ring in it that makes the difference. Want the dessert without the ring? Well, that's a much more reasonable $8.95.
Try To Keep Calm And Curry On
The Samundari Khazana (literally translating to ‘ocean’s treasure’), the most expensive curry in the world, is served at Bombay Brasserie in London. At $3200, it has Devon crab, Scottish lobster, white truffle, beluga caviar, gold leaf, abalones and quail eggs. This is surely as close to royalty as we can get.
