Promising Bollywood Movie Releases Of 2019
2018 was dominated by some amazing content-driven and small budget movies. It was also the year where the Khans of Bollywood took a backseat and the young fleet of actors like Vicky Kaushal, Ayushmann Khurrana and Ranveer Singh ruled the box offices. This year too looks just as promising with a wide range of upcoming releases.
Here are the top Bollywood movies that have us excited in 2019:
Sonchiriya (February 8)
This dacoit drama is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranveer Shorey, Bhumi Pednekar and our favourite villain, Ashutosh Rana. With an ensemble cast as strong as this, we are sure the audiences are in for a treat.
Gully Boy (February 14)
Taking inspiration from the real-life stories of Mumbai-based street rappers Naved Sheikh and Vivian Fernandes, Gully Boy is a musical drama directed by the boss lady, Zoya Akhtar. The movie features Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The soundtrack and kickass visuals have already sent the fans in a frenzy.
The Zoya Factor (April 5)
We loved the Malayalam films' superstar Dulquer Salmaan in his Bollywood debut movie Karwaan. And we have a feeling he is going to make us fall even more in love with him with this one. It would be interesting to see his chemistry with Sonam Kapoor on the big screens.
Kalank (April 19)
This could be easily one of the biggest releases of this year with a truly terrific ensemble cast with Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt and Aditya Roy Kapur. Produced by Karan Johar, the movie is set against the partition period and the struggle during independence.
Kabir Singh (June 21)
The official remake of the Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy, the movie will see Shahid Kapoor playing the lead role with Kiara Advani as his love interest. The original lead actor Vijay Deverakonda was lauded for his phenomenal performance by one and all. We can’t wait to see if Shahid can match (or exceed) that level.
Brahmastra (December 20)
Ever since Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have made their relationship status public, their fans have been waiting with bated breath for this movie. Directed by Ayan Mukherji and also starring the stalwart Amitabh Bachchan, Brahmastra is a fantasy movie which is also a trilogy. The first part is set to release this December.
The Sky is Pink (To Be Announced)
The movie is based on the life of motivational speaker Aisha Chaudhary who was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. The lead actors include Zaira Wasim, Farhan Akhtar and Priyanka Chopra. National Film award winner Shonali Bose is directing the movie which gives us more reasons than one to be excited about.
