7 Fun Things To Do When You Are Bored At Home
Remember all those things you always wanted to do but kept pushing them to a later date? (Read: I will do it when I find the time) Sounds like you? Don’t worry, all of us have done this. You’re not alone. But the good news is, now we DO have time. And lots of it. It would be a shame if we didn’t use this to tick off all the items on our mental ‘To-Do’ list.
While binge-watching an interesting show on Netflix is all fine, but there’s only so much you can watch before you feel mentally exhausted. So, here’s a list of fun things if you are wondering what to do when you are bored at home.
1. Subscribe to a Course Online
Have you wanted to learn a new skill for the longest time but your 9 to 6 routine never left you with any extra time? Time to pursue this. It could be learning a new musical instrument, a foreign language or taking baking lessons online – the list is endless.
2. Make an Online Book Reading Club
Some of us really love our books (You know who you are!) But, we often struggle to get into a regular rhythm of reading daily. You can use platforms like Whatsapp or Facebook to host an online book reading club where you can let the book nerds connect with each other and share their daily book updates. Pick a theme for the club, set a regular schedule, and make sure you engage with the members and celebrate your collective love for books to keep things exciting.
3. Vlogging
All you really need is a DSLR or a smartphone with a good camera and (optionally) some video editing software and you are all set. Just get as creative as you can be and create a video that’s interesting for the viewers. Say, creating a video that shows how to accomplish something that the viewers connect with?
4. Make Cooking Your Therapy
Cooking is THE best therapy ever. Period. While some of us are Master Chefs by default, some others nurture this distant dream of becoming one someday. Take this spare time to hone your cooking skills. Experiment in the kitchen with food items you like so you don’t rely on takeaways and sure as hell don’t settle for Maggi and anda bhurji for your meals (Been there, done that. Never doing it again though!)
5. Gardening
Love to get your hands dirty? (Pun unintended) Gardening will give you ample time to connect with nature and be amidst greenery. Trust me, this has such a calming effect on the mind and body, you’ll make this a regular feature pretty soon. If you have a small space, you can even consider container gardening to grow edibles like home-grown tomatoes, chillies, lemons and more. Excited much?
6. Jewellery Making
There are literally hundreds and thousands of websites that give you a step-by-step tutorial on how to make your own jewellery. Imagine how cool it would be to flaunt something you have created for yourself and people praise you for it? From bangles to chunky earpieces, you can take your pick. Make a set to match with your favourite outfit to complete your look.
7. Give Yourself A DIY Facial
Bring your spa home! Embrace the free time to pamper yourself with a Do-It-Yourself facial. Shine in the afterglow and feel good for taking care of your skin. If you want to do more, you can give yourself a mani-pedi sesh or indulge in some nail art.
Savour the pause with these fun activities and make each day count!
