7 Sasta Sundar And Not-So-Tikau Gifts We've All Received At Some Point
After all, what sane explanation can you possibly give yourself when someone gifts you an empty picture frame? Duh, at least show some effort and gift it with a special photo inside to show you care. We are not asking for the moon here! Really!
So, for the greater good of the universe, we have compiled a list of cliched gifts that you must totally avoid gifting at all costs. You can thank us later.
Soft Toys
Okay, so these may be cute for a 5-year old. But seriously, who gifts teddy bears to grown adults who are probably looking for a real-life teddy for themselves?! *Ahem*
Dry Fruits
Dry fruits as a gift are proof that you were completely out of ideas. And honestly, you didn't even try. You know there are a million things you can gift that are not dry fruits right?
Namkeen
Stop gifting this right now. No, not even on festivals. If your grey cells aren’t working, please skip giving a gift altogether but just don’t be this lame. EVER! Not giving a gift probably won’t tarnish your image as much as gifting something outright silly.
Mithai
THIS. MUST. STOP. Please avoid dumping boring mithai boxes on hapless people who don't want it. If you are absolutely clueless what to gift someone, gift them cash. They can go buy something they really want. They’ll thank you from the depths of their heart.
Random Home Décor
This is what you gift someone when you want to get rid of all the unnecessary stuff you bought during your last flea-market escapade. In all probabilities, home décor items occupy a corner of your room and gather dust throughout their miserable lives.
Recycled Gifts
This is the best of them all. We agree, as Indians we have the innate need to recycle our gifts. Because, why throw away something when you can probably gift it to someone, right? Wrong. Please get a hold of yourself and stop embarrassing everyone.
Scented Candles
There is nothing wrong with gifting this to someone you barely know. But if you share great relations with someone, you need something more personal. Something that doesn’t scream ‘Surprise! We are not as close as you thought.’
