Manikarnika brought alive on celluloid one of the most daring leaders of the first war of independence, Rani Laxmibai who unarguably remains one of the most inspirational women in India even today.

Soorma narrates the story of the ace Indian field hockey player, Sandeep Singh who experienced a freak gun accident on a train journey that left him paralysed below the waist. His return to the game after beating all odds is beyond inspiring.
3. Raazi (2018)
This spy thriller movie is based on Harinder Sikka’s book ‘Calling Sehmat’ and gives us a peek into the dangerous lives of Indian agents and spies portrayed brilliantly by Alia Bhatt.
4. M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016)
Based on the life of the former captain of the Indian cricket team Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the film shares some unknown and interesting facts about his life. The movie went on to do big numbers at the box office.
5. Neerja (2016)
Starring Sonam Kapoor, the film narrates the powerful life story of Neerja Bhanot, a young flight attendant who sacrificed her life to save the passengers of the hijacked Pan Am Flight 73 in 1986.
6. Padman (2018)
The movie is based on the life of a man from a small village in Tamil Nadu, Arunachalam Muruganantham who invented the machine that manufactures sanitary pads at a fraction of the cost of branded ones.
7. Mary Kom (2014)
Starring Priyanka Chopra, the film is based on the life of former Indian Olympic boxer, Mary Kom. It shows the struggles she had to face while pursuing her passion of becoming a world-class boxer.
8. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013)
The movie is based on the life of Indian athlete, Milkha Singh, popularly known as ‘The Flying Sikh’. The film stars the supremely talented Farhan Akhtar and was both a critical and commercial success.
9. Dangal (2016)
This sports biopic movie is featured on the life of the Phogat sisters – Geeta and Babita Phogat. The movie focuses on Mahavir Singh Phogat’s (the father) quest to train his daughters to win a gold medal in wrestling.
10. Shahid (2013)
Shahid is based on the real life of lawyer and human rights activist, Shahid Azmi who was assassinated in Mumbai in 2010. Directed by Hansal Mehta and produced by Anurag Kashyap, Rajkummar Rao plays the titular role in the movie.
