How To Set Up An Ice Cream Station At Home Skip to main content
I scream, you scream, we all scream, for ICE CREAM!!

Did you hear the scoop? Ice cream stations are the new “it” thing at house parties and I don’t know anyone who won’t be rooting for this one to become a permanent thing! I mean who doesn’t like chocolate chips on a mouth-watering ice cream sundae? If it were up to me, ice cream would be officially declared as the first meal of the day. Imagine, ice cream cones, a scoop of your favourite flavour with toppings and frozen yoghurt for breakfast! Doesn’t it remind you of a make your own sundae birthday party?

Seriously though, you don’t have to wait for an occasion like a pyjama theme party to set up an ice cream bar at your place. All you need is to plan it right.

Where to start?

The first thing you need to decide is where to set up the ice cream station. You don’t need a fancy spot, even something as simple as a kitchen top, dining table or a centre table does the trick. What do you need next?

Ice cream flavours
Make a list of 4 to 5 different flavours that can’t go wrong. Pick two tubs of anything chocolate, something neutral like a Vanilla which works well with toppings. Next you could pick a classic caramel or butterscotch. You could also include a tub of strawberry ice cream or some other fruity one that’s available.

Toppings
Here’s where you can officially go crazy. Pick the best ice cream combinations that you enjoyed as a kid and make a list of different kinds of toppings for your guests to enjoy. You don’t want to miss out on crushed waffles, marshmallows, chocolate chips, coloured sprinklers, and maybe fresh fruit! Even brownies and cookies make for great toppings!

Delicious Drizzles
No ice cream bar is complete without a delicious drizzle of something extra on top! You could keep a selection to pick from like chocolate syrup, Baileys Irish Cream, and maybe some Nutella too! Most of it is mess-free and requires you to turn the bottle upside down, that’s all! Simple, eh?

Whipped cream
Don’t tell me you forgot about whipped cream! I’ll say this from personal experience, forgetting whipped cream for an ice cream party is the biggest crime! Whipped cream is very easily available, not to mention how it brings anything and everything together!

With all your ingredients in place, all that’s left to do is set up an ice cream station with plastic cups to serve your ice cream sundae in, disposable spoons and colourful tissue paper.

Pro tip: To keep the ice cream bar mess-free, scoop out an average of 4 scoops per person across flavours and spread the scoops out on a rimmed baking sheet that’s easily available online. Freeze the sheet on a tray for 10 minutes before you place the scoops on it. Leave the ice cream scoops in the freezer for at least an hour before you serve.

Add some acoustic music to your ice cream station and you have yourselves a very fun and chill house party that everyone is bound to enjoy!
