When Life Gave Param Veer A Single Ingredient, He Made A World Class Cocktail Out Of It

I didn’t know what I’d want to do right up until the day I got my final year mark sheet in hand. I bet Param Veer (a bartender from Together At 12th in Delhi) told his teacher that he wanted to become a bartender someday.
Cut to 2019, imagine having your dreams come true that too in Goa? Yeah, you read that right! That’s exactly what happened with this year’s Top 10 World Class finalist Param Veer.
Param was chosen from among 50 World Class contenders for his outstanding single ingredient cocktail creation. This boy who dared to dream big did his internship at Taj Holiday Village Resort & Spa in Goa, that too at the pool bar. Could it get any better?
Somewhere between mixing drinks under the Goan sun and enjoying the vibe, he realised that dreams do come true. Param delved into some of his experiences as a bartender and revealed that the one overrated drink he’s tired of hearing people order is the LIIT. Most people end up ordering this cocktail only to feel the rush of alcohol. (Drink Responsibly)
As for him, do you know what cocktail is his all-time favourite, obviously when he’s on the other side of the bar? The Americano.
But, Param admits that World Class has taught him a lot. One bartending trick he learned, was to use one ingredient in so many ways. Isn’t that awesome?
A confident and positive Param speaks about his World Class drink…
“My World Class cocktail is called ‘Plumami’. As the name suggests, it’s a drink made with Plum and has an Umami-like taste. It is the flavour that made my cocktail stand out. I used plum in many ways to make the cocktail. For instance, I made lacto-fermented plum juice, plum syrup, plum bitters and plum soda too!”
He went on to tell us, about the trends that keep changing in this industry and he believes that 2019 is all about gin.
And as for another WC cocktail that he loved most after his own…
“I loved Akhilesh Sheoran’s drink called ‘Mangoes Only’. I liked it because it was 44°C outside, and that drink was very refreshing to sip on. That’s what I wanted from a cocktail and that’s exactly what this cocktail gave me. Also, who doesn’t love mangoes, right?”

There’s one tidbit about Param that no one knows! When it comes to sharing his cocktails, he’s a lot like Joey from Friends. He doesn’t share his food and he doesn’t share his drinks either.
