Eat all things love at Bumblee bee brauhaus! Skip to main content
What’s the buzz around the hive?

I was recently browsing around I-Town’s 100Ft Road (a little birdie told me that’s what the cool kids are calling Indiranagar these days) when I stumbled across a raw brick facade with large inviting windows. I decided to bumble..erm.. I mean stumble in to see what the buzz was about.

I was immediately won over by the warmth exuded by the raw bricks, the browns of the wood accents and the bronzed wrought iron decor details. Bumblebee Brauhaus (German for brew/beer house) turned out to be an eclectic mix of a German styled brewery with an Indian and Asian menu.

Spread across two levels, with an outdoor seating area, the bar area distinguishes itself from the brick and wood of the outdoors area with plush grey velvet booths. A goldfish pond catches your eye outdoors, while the abundance of reflective surfaces (the ceiling, the menu, the tabletops) makes clicking pictures without some part of your reflection (distorted, really; the camera adds ten pounds) creeping in a real nightmare. Of course, one could argue that it is impossible to click a photograph without a bit of yourself permeating through it, but philosophy on an empty stomach is a bad idea, my dear (insert exaggerated British accent and emphatic adjustment of spectacles).

The soft strains of the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, the Eagles and Bob Dylan was blowing in the wind and through the whole Brauhaus, and reassured me that through the rough week I was having love, if not the fabulous gastronomic encounter ahead, would keep me alive.

So, I went right in, grabbed a table by the window and began checking out the menu.
Chilli Chicken in Nest
The angry redness and aggressive ginger freshness of chilli sauce coats crispy chicken in the Indian-Chinese masterstroke of plating- fried noodle basket. Diced bell peppers, like most sheeple, are forgettable, but everywhere.

Bumble Bee Old Fashion
The smokiness of whisky and caramelized sweetness grilled pineapple (Yep.They added the grilled pineapple juice to my drink and used it as a garnish too!) is perfectly contrasted with the bite of chilli and Szechuan pepper, is shaken, stirred and poured out. If this doesn’t tickle your taste buds, I don’t know what will!

Bavarian Meat Loaf
The problem with most fried meat dishes is that they end up looking like fifty shades of brown. But don’t let that deter you from digging into these succulent, moist slices of meatloaf accompanied by German potato salad and fried eggs. The beer and mustard dip touches your nose in places you didn’t know exist and deserves an honourable mention.

Spicy Passion
The mention of curry patta gets my gears grinding! Throw in some gin and ginger, passion fruit and lime, and you have a showstopper of exquisite elegance. ‘nuf said.

Paan Panna Cotta
Described as an ‘Italian dessert infused with betel leaf’, this beauty looks like Christmas, tastes like Banaras, and will make you wish you saved more space for dessert, just so you could have a second serving.
