Cricketers Who Taught Us The Spirit Of #AbKhelKeDikha
Cricket in India is an emotion and our favourite cricketers are celebrated as ‘Gods’. With plenty of drama, emotion, controversy and excitement on field, cricketers have taught us the spirit of #AbKhelKeDikha.
Haven’t we all dreamt of joining the Indian cricket team at some point? Well, the Royal Challenge Bold League is a great opportunity to play with the boys in red, including Virat Kohli. All you have to do is form your own team and register to take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore!
1. Virat Kohli
With the recent series win, Virat Kohli proves to be the best captain in the world. Our celebrated captain is well-known for crazy catches, viral dancing and even sportsmanship towards his teammates. But what makes him stand out from the rest, is his gratitude in his heart for his team and everything it has done.
While there was criticism and backlash, Virat made sure about keeping his priorities in place. He brought energy and enthusiasm and taught us the spirit of #AbKhelKeDikha. None of us had any doubts about the team game plan against Australia. You go, Captain!
2. M S Dhoni
Whether you love cricket or not, if you live in India and haven’t heard about the potential and praises of M S Dhoni, we wonder which rock you’re living under. Our love for Dhoni begun at the time we first saw him take the bat and walk the field in his glorious mane. While he is not one to steal the limelight, don’t forget he is the only Indian skipper to lead us to two World Cup trophies. He hits sixes like no other and he knows how to maintain calm under pressure.
3. Sourav Ganguly
Dada as he is lovingly called, took charge of the Indian cricket team way back in the early 2000s and changed the way cricket was played. His fighting spirit, his quick decisions and never-say-die attitude made him conquer all odds that were set up against him. Remember the 2001 Kolkata Test against Australia, when he sent VVS Laxman to replace Rahul Dravid at number 3? Well, Laxman scored 281* and Sourav was applauded as one of the greatest captains India has ever had.
4. Sachin Tendulkar
Sachin Tendulkar is the reason why a billion people got united to chant, “Jeetega bhai jeetega, Hindustaan jeetega!” We may never agree on the same things, but we definitely will agree to one thing – when Sachin takes the bat, he spins magic. He is not simply called the ‘God of Cricket’, every match the Master Blaster played, he taught us true sportsmanship.
5. Sunil Gavaskar
Even before Sachin Tendulkar, it was Sunil Gavaskar’s reign. Imagine this – cricket was a sport, not a career, we were the underdogs in the cricket world, and India was a different country. Enter, a young kid whose bowling attack scared the world, he took on a bat and crushed the ball without a helmet. Yes, that little kid was Sunil Gavaskar. From that day on, there was no looking back.
That’s how things started looking up for India, thanks to Sunil Gavaskar who was a beacon of hope for a billion people.
The league has already begun, catch the upcoming MH finals on the 12th of January 2019. To take the event up a notch watch Amit Trivedi performing live for the fans!
