Hatke Resolutions To Help You Make The World A Better Place In 2019
Even the smallest step matters!
The New Year is upon us and we have already started making resolutions. In most cases, when it comes to resolutions, we tend to focus on ourselves and look for ways to improve. Be it hitting the gym or even getting rid of your nocturnal schedule, the list goes on.
While there is nothing wrong with these resolutions, how about going beyond your own self and making a big difference in someone else’s life? Wouldn't that be a win-win?
To get you started, here are some hatke resolutions for you to consider:

We know the “Go Green” resolution has been over-used to such an extent that you can’t stand to listen to it anymore. But it’ll only be a matter of some time when the entire planet goes kaput, if we don’t mend our ways. So, we can do our bit by sticking to the basics like taking public transportation whenever possible, turning off electronic gadgets when not in use, and keeping your city clean.

It doesn't always have to be about money. You can donate essentials like clothes and other necessities that you have an excess of. We are so used to hoarding things we don't even need that we overlook the needs of the less fortunate who can't even afford the basics. If there is any chance that you can bring a smile on someone’s face, grab it with both hands and do good.

Volunteering is easily one of the most rewarding and satisfying experiences you'll have in your life. The best part about committing to this is you can choose to take part depending on your schedule. Be it homeless shelters, age-old homes, animal shelters, or schools, look at this as your golden chance to give back to the community and have an enlightening experience for yourself.

In this fast-paced world, we have become so involved with ourselves that we have stopped paying attention to the people around us. Resolve to become more compassionate toward others. See someone struggling with a heavy suitcase? Give them a lending hand. Spot someone looking lost? Ask them if they need help with directions.

Plan to do one nice thing every week that not just puts a smile on someone’s face but also gives you a sense of achievement. Be it a small thing like complimenting someone or sponsoring the education of a child in need, make an effort to make someone’s day.

If you’ve been bitten by the travel bug, don’t wait for a lottery win to start travelling the world. Work. Save. Holiday. Repeat. This should be your mantra. Start small with local trips and domestic destinations. Whether it’s a girl’s trip or a solo excursion, satisfy the wanderlust in you and make beautiful memories.

Life’s too short and you shouldn't’t be living it up on pizzas alone! (That’s not to say we love pizzas any less). But the point is, there are just way too many cuisines in the world that it would be a shame to not try them. Plus, new dishes are a really interesting way to explore a new culture.

What have you always wanted to do but never got around to it because you’re now a part of the rat race? Play an instrument? Learn a new language? Cooking? Set a resolution to acquire the skill you desire. Fortunately for us, the internet has made it unbelievably easy to learn new things. Make the most of it!

Trust us when we say this is ‘easier said than done’. We get so caught up in our daily shuffle that rushing through conversations half-heartedly has become a norm without us even realising. Make a conscious effort to perfect your listening in 2019 and the results will surprise you.

Yes. This needs to be told even though it seems too obvious. There will always be that someone who is younger than you and doing incredibly well or is living a life that you wanted for yourself. You have got to stop worrying about it and shift all that energy into living your life and making improvements to yourself.

Enjoy every moment one clink at a time. But, make sure you and your yaars celebrate every night responsibly. Make a mental note to not take to the wheel when you’ve been drinking. Watch out that your yaars don’t do it either. If your friends still insist on driving after a drink, take the responsibility of tweeting to @No1_Yaari with hashtag #No1YaariPatrol and tag your friends. The No.1 Yaari Patrol will intervene and talk to your friends on twitter and dissuade them from taking to the wheel.
Let’s make 2019 the year we start thinking about the world as one big family and start saving ourselves.
