Meet Gully Boy Siddhant Chaturvedi Who Has Rapped His Way Straight Into Our Hearts
We have more reasons than one to thank Zoya Akhtar for existing. First, because she gave us Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, a gem of a movie. And second, for introducing us to MC Sher aka our very own golden boy, Siddhant Chaturvedi on the big screen. Ever since he made his Bollywood debut with Gully Boy, this talented Indian actor has become a household name after flooring us with his sensational performance. But before I speak more on that, let’s roll back a little and acknowledge Siddhant’s journey to Bollywood. Shall we?
Born on 29th April 1993 in Uttar Pradesh, Siddhant’s family moved to Mumbai when he was 5 years old. His dad is a Chartered Accountant and his mom is a homemaker. Siddhant was all set to follow the footsteps of his father by preparing himself for Chartered Accountancy. But fate had other plans for him.

In the year 2012, he won a national talent hunt organised by the Bombay Times. This achievement served as a catalyst in shaping Siddhant’s journey towards performing arts wholeheartedly. That’s when he decided he must switch his career and devote all his attention to one thing alone – his love for acting.
Times Now
His first break happened with the web series ‘Life Sahi Hai’ directed by Luv Ranjan of Pyaar Ka Punchnama fame. The show was based on the lives of four young men who move to Delhi and try to navigate through relationships, work and life in general. Around the same time, he even featured in a Coca Cola advertisement.
Koimoi
From sitcom and brand advertisements, Siddhant moved to Amazon Prime Video’s first Indian original series, Inside Edge. The sports thriller had him playing the role of a rookie fast bowler hailing from Uttar Pradesh. His sincere performance won him many applauds from fans and critics alike. Inside Edge went on to be nominated at the 46th International Emmy Awards in 2018 under the Best Drama Series.
The Quint
It was at the success party of Inside Edge that Zoya Akhtar spotted Siddhant and almost like scripted serendipity, asked him to audition for Gully Boy. Rest as we know is history. Interestingly, Inside Edge and later Gully Boy both were backed by Farhan Akhtar and Riteish Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment.

However, the road to reach here has not been an easy one as is the case with all who dare to dream big. In an interview, Siddhant spoke about how he struggled for six years and got rejected countless times before he finally got his break. But not for a moment did he stop the hustle to achieve what he set out to do. That’s why he is the MC Sher in real life too!
DNA India
Apart from acting, Siddhant’s Instagram feeds often give a sneak peek into his other interests like poetry, painting and dance. He is also trained in martial arts and parkour. Makes me wonder is there anything this man can’t do?

On the work front, he is currently prepping for Bunty Aur Babli 2 and I can’t wait to see how he shines and makes his mark in this one.

Whatever his future endeavours be I know he is going to hit the ball out of the park because ‘bhai jaisa koi hardich nai hai’
