Chronicles Of The Vault Biennale: #1 Discover The Luxury Beverage Trail
A one-of-its-kind luxury beverage festival for alcohol connoisseurs, this event brought together a community that appreciates the finest spirits of the world.
Here’s an account of our experience at this exclusive event:
We took a stroll through this festival to discover some premium brands and their top mixologists who gave us a taste of what can truly be called a luxurious beverage. Let’s just say we were far from being left high and dry at this event.
Join us as we take you through this experience.
Our trail began at the Talisker booth from the house of Diageo.
Talisker whisky is a Single Malt Scotch that comes from the Island of Skye in Scotland. Staying true to the island theme, the counter resembled a boat that was placed against a blue backdrop.
Did you know that the name Talisker means ‘sloping rock’? We just learnt about it too.
We tried the Talisker 10Y.O that had a warming spicy finish to it. On the nose it combines sea-water saltiness with barley sugar sweetness, citric lemon acidity, peat smoke, and sea-weedy iodine. If you speak whiskies, you’ll know what we mean. If you don’t, try this whisky to find out what we mean.
As a treat, we were offered sea salt dark chocolate & caramel truffles that they claimed paired perfectly well with the smoky and sweet whisky. On taking a bite, we can whole-heartedly agree to the same. Thank you Talisker!
At the same booth, we also bumped into Diageo India Brand Ambassador Zachary Abbott. After giving us a little introduction about the island whisky, he took us through the Johnnie Walker line of whiskies, which included the Johnnie Walker Double Black, Johnnie Walker 18Y.O and the Johnnie Walker Blue Label.
The ever-charming Zachary also mixed us a Boulevard taster shot, which is the whisky version of a Negroni. It was totally worth hovering around the counter watching him do his trick.
After having our share of whisky, we moved on to some gin. The Tanqueray counter was a refreshing sight on a warm afternoon. Just like the bottle, it was all green and soothing to the eye.
Here, we met Diageo India Brand Ambassador Khushnaz Raghina who had us taste Tanqueray and Tanqueray No.TEN.
A perfect cooler on a Sunday afternoon, we took some time to savour this gin. The Tanqueray No.TEN, we were told is a small batch gin crafted using fresh citrus fruits. As we sipped this drink, we could taste the exquisite citrus burst that went so well with the tonic water. Svami tonic water came in different flavours that made each gin drink seem quite different and unique.
Something that really got our attention here was the spritz station at the counter. All we had to do was place our drink inside and it sprayed some citrusy spritz into it. Oh, so fresh!
We also discovered the Singleton 12Y.O whisky while on our luxury beverage trail. The light, fruity, and creamy flavours of this drink really made our day. We recommend this delicious drink if you’re new to whiskies and want a drink to begin with. Cheers!
The Vault Biennale made for a perfect opportunity for us to discover a great many luxurious beverages. Now that’s a good way to spend a weekend, wouldn’t you agree?
