Vishal & Shekhar Bring The House Down At Mumbai's No.1 Yaari Jam!
Vishal and Shekhar are synonymous with delivering power-packed performances; both on stage and off.
Be it Vishal’s Malhari or Shekhar’s Dua, the songs leave an everlasting impression on one and all.The multitalented duo excels at song-writing, composing, singing along with juggling their own solo careers as artists.
Having known each other since years, their yaari is revered and looked up to by the industry and audience alike.
A prime example of Yin and Yang, Vishal and Shekhar bring the same yaarion stage during their energetic concerts.
And this energy was evident during the dynamic live performance by the musical maestros at the McDowell’s No.1 Soda No.1 Yaari Jam Concert in Mumbai recently.
From rousing duets to incredible solos, the duo gave the audience everything they wished for.
And in case you missed the show, read on to know about all the spectacular highlights.
After touring all of West India over the past couple of months for the No.1 Yaari Jam Concert, it came as no surprise that the duo concluded it in their home ground, Mumbai.
Vishal and Shekhar greeted the eager audience with the title track of Om Shaanti Om, a crowd favourite, followed by a set-list that kept boosting the energy levels.
Next up was Disco Dewaane from Student Of The Year. Along with introducing us to talents like Alia, Varun, and Siddharth, the movie was also iconic in reviving Nazia Hassan’s 1981 hit of the same name. And boy, did the yaars do it well!
Both displayed their vocal prowess and super yaari, while backed by a talented band to hits like Desi Girl, Bachna Ae Haseeno and the 2009 chartbuster Dard-e-Disco. All songs were met with a roaring applause with the audience literally jumping to the beats!
When introducing Jeele Zara from Talaash — a mellow but, powerful song about living life to the fullest— Vishal said with a smile, “Pangepeechechhodo, yaaro and do just what Gulzaar sahib tells you to do in the lyrics.”
Vishal went forth and took a vote to choose what he would sing next – Malhari or Madari. With hands being raised for both the tracks, he ended up singing both – fabulously!
Shekhar introduced the audience to another talent of his – playing the Melodica. He skilfully played the tricky instrument as he introduced the HaseeTohPhasee number, Zehnaseeb, leaving everyone impressed.
One of the highlights of the night was not a Vishal Shekhar song, but a cover of Tere Bina Zindagi Ze Koi Shikwa Toh Nahi from Aandhi.Shekhar’s version was far more soulful than the 1975 original, as fans swayed along to his vocals. Impressively, despite being released almost three decades ago, everyone seemed familiar with the ’70s classic and enjoyed it as much as their other hits.
As the night came to an end, the audience was well versed with the charisma the pair brings when working together. From their music to their chemistry, the No.1Yaari Jam Concert got us one step closer to knowing the dynamic duo better.
We’re sure the audience can barely wait till they catch them live again!
