The top shows set in the '80s span a variety of genres, let's take a trip back and see - shall we?
It is always a pleasure to go back in time, especially if it’s the illustrious 80s! We’re talking of high-waist pants, polo tees, big hairdos and bright colours flashing on your screen. Sounds fun, right? Here are five modern TV shows set during the 1980s that will take you on trip to nostalgia, and might also get you hooked to your TV screen. So grab your popcorn to get set watching.
1. The Goldbergs: In its sixth season now (premier on 26 September 2018), The Goldbergs is the story of an American family living in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania in the 1980s. Created by Adam F. Goldberg who has also co-produced the show, The Goldbergs takes influences from Adam’s childhood experiences and family and shows the reality of the times from the perspective of a young boy, with a comic twist. With outstanding writing and strong star cast, the show will crack you up for its brilliant comic timing. Certainly binge-watch worthy!

2. This Is Us: A television drama that’ll leave you teary-eyed, This Is Us is the story of three siblings and their struggles with relationships. Though there’s a high dose of emotions at play, that’s not the only thing working for this show which has completed two successful seasons. There’s a wonderful star cast and heart-warming love stories with great jokes that’ll keep you hooked to it. The show has a unique format where it jumps between the past (set in the 1980s) and the present (2016-2018) and thus makes for a great watch.

3. Narcos: Based on the life of Columbian drug lord Pablo Escobar, Narcos is a crime drama that won accolades for its strong script and storytelling. An illustrious man, Pablo became a billionaire through peddling cocaine and his story is one you absolutely cannot miss especially if you like the combo of crime and drama. The fourth season of the show is awaited in 2018 and honestly, we hope you catch up in time.

4. Glow: An American television show set in the 80s, GLOW is about a pack of women that are part of the syndicated professional women’s wrestling team. The show in its third season (premiered on 20 August 2018) has been well received with the focus being on the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling (GLOW) and their lives that makes for gripping watch.

5. Stranger Things: Set in the fictional town of Hawkins in the 1980s, Stranger Things does a great job in giving you a glimpse of those times with brilliant sound, acting, writing, atmosphere and direction. The plot is based on scientific experiments into supernatural and paranormal activities along with human experiments that give rise to weird activities in the sleepy town. A part horror, part suspense show, this one will have you glued to your seats all day.
