How To House Party: Housewarming Edition | Social Goat Skip to main content
Warm it up real nice with an epic house party!

Moving houses is never easy. It’s weeks and weeks of unpacking and setting up the house. But once you’re almost done (let’s be real, you’ll never be fully done) it’s time to show off! Also, you need to get to know your neighbours. So, what do you do? Throw an epic house party!

Okay, I know a house party sounds like a lot of work, but it can be really easy if you plan it out properly. Let me give you some tips that helped me be epic. Firstly, there are three things you need to keep in mind
- Keep it simple
- Be realistic
- Have fun and show off.

Well, here’s how you can go about it! Since it’s your first time (even if it isn’t)  let’s make it fun.

1. Pehle patience, phir plan: I know it’s super tempting to call just about everyone immediately after the house is almost set, but wait, think about it - how many people can your house accommodate? If there are too many people, things might get a little messy. And you know, sometimes, daag achche nahi hai! So, plan your guest list wisely.

2. Invites: How do you call your baajuwali aunties, yaars and relatives everyone at once? Simple! Create an instant messaging group, so that everyone’s on the same page at all times!

Ask

3. Ask and receive: Nobody wants to be stuck with three toasters as housewarming gifts. Create your very own registry on Amazon wishlist. Here, your guests can view gifts you want and pick and choose accordingly.

4. Food: We know that you may not be able to cook up a storm in your new house, so keep it minimal. Here are some 3 ingredient finger food recipes you can try out. And if you’re too tired to cook, you can always hire a caterer from here or opt for a Cater Ninja who specialises in taking party orders.

Pro-tip: Serve food in eco-friendly and compostable plates.

5.Set up a bar: Here’s your opportunity to be the bartender you always wanted to be and concoct drinks for everyone! And when I say drinks, I mean punches! Why? Because this way, you don’t have to be standing behind the bar all day and your guests can help themselves.
Make some easy and quick punches like a fruity cocktail punch or an ocean breeze. All you have to do is - mix, shake and stir. Serve it in a punch bowl or a pitcher. Click here for some amazing cocktail recipes.

6. Decor: Don’t forget that you’re celebrating your new house at this housewarming party and you’d want your guests to feel at home. So, make sure your decor gives out the warm and cosy vibe.

7.Entertainment: What’s a party without some entertainment? Music + Games = FUN!
Music: Music makes everything better, and sets the tone for your house party. We would recommend some calm and groovy tracks that go well with the conversations in the room. While we know you’re in between unpacking your boxes, we decided to help you with this playlist. Don’t worry! you can also add your favourite songs to the list.
Games: Games like Scavenger Hunt, Pictionary, Heads up will help your guests to mingle with each other and get talking.
Karaoke: Karaoke with your neighbours in order to show off your singing skills (If they’re impressed, they might give you free food)

8.Home Tour: No housewarming is complete without the home tour! A guided home tour can be exciting at first but it can tire you out. Instead of repeating yourself constantly and showing people around, you can create a DIY home tour. Just put up quirky post-its with anecdotes for each room, for example: “I never believed in love at first sight, until I saw my kitchen, look at the cabinets! Organised much?”

Now that you know how to throw a housewarming party, what are you waiting for? Do it already and get vibin’!
