#CocktailCode Make Crushed Ice For Your Cocktails At Home | Social Goat Skip to main content
Call your friends and show off your new skill!

Crushed ice is used in a variety of cocktails, from the margarita to the mojito.
But as easy as it sounds, crushed ice requires a great deal of effort if you’re making it at home.
While it does make for an arm workout, if you’re making a big batch of cocktails for your summer soiree, it’s no fun!
Today I’ll teach you tricks that’ll help up your mixology game using things you can find in your kitchen.

So, go on and do your julep justice by adding the perfect kind of crushed ice!

1. Blend It
The fastest method out there, this one will make you a crushed ice expert in minutes!
Simply throw a handful of ice cubes into a food processor or blender and blitz until you have the softest pile of cocktail ice. Shake it up with your favourite cocktail recipe or save it for later in the freezer.

2. Roll It
I may not know how to make perfectly round rotis, but crushing ice with a rolling pin? Piece of cake! Find a ziplock sandwich bag and fill it with water. Seal the bag and place in in the freezer for about four hours. Remove and hold the bag under running hot water to defrost it. After the ice starts to crack, bash the bag with a rolling pin and TA-DAA, you’re ready to make a Moscow mule!

3. Hammer It
Proceed with caution here, unless you’re into home décor. Get a hold of your trusty ice cube tray, fill it with water, and freeze for a couple of hours. Once ready, place the ice cubes onto a towel laid out on a flat, sturdy surface. Take a rubber band and tie up the towel into a small pouch, and with a hammer, whack at the pouch until the ice is completely crushed. Nailed it!
