1. Crème brûlée – France
Fancy a rich creamy dessert? The Crème brûlée is a dessert consisting of a rich custard base topped with a layer of hardened caramelized sugar. It is usually served chilled. The custard base is traditionally flavoured with vanilla but can have a variety of other flavourings.


2. Gelato – Italy
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!
Gelato is ice cream made in Italian style. Flavoured with fruit, nut purees and other flavourings it is made with a base of milk and sugar, and is mostly lower in fat than other ice cream. It can be served in any way – cup, cone, sandwich, cake, pie or even on a stick.


3. Gulab Jamun – India
Be ready to get a sugar rush! This milk-solid based sweet dipped in a sugary syrup will leave you craving for more. It is often garnished with dried nuts such as almonds to enhance its flavour.


4. Banoffee Pie - England
Bake the world a better place! We wouldn’t lie, but the Banoffee pie is our absolute favourite. Banoffee (Banana and Toffee) pie is made from banana, cream and toffee. And sometimes chocolate or coffee. The pie is combined on a buttery biscuit base or crumbled biscuits, and butter. Get your forks already!


5. Mochi – Japan
Be prepared to smack your lips! Mochi is a Japanese rice cake made by pounding glutinous rice into a paste which is then moulded into the desired shape. While it is a traditional food commonly eaten for the Japanese New Year, it is also eaten year round.


6. Nanaimo Bars – Canada
Named after the city of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, this bar dessert requires no baking. It consists of three layers: a wafer and coconut crumb-base, custard flavoured butter icing in the middle and a layer of chocolate ganache on top. Drool-worthy right?


7. Belgian Waffle – Belgium
Don’t you think waffles look like hashtags? Well, to be honest, waffles are always on our mind. Made from a leavened batter cooked between two plates, these are often eaten for breakfast. The toppings vary as per your preference – from whipped cream, confectioners’ sugar, fruit, chocolate spread, to syrup, and margarine.


8. Syrniki - Russia
Bored of the regular pancakes? Try the syrniki at home. These fluff balls are fried quark (quark cheese) pancakes that make for great savouries. Shaped into cakes and fried in butter, they are slightly browned on both sides. They are typically served with jam, apple sauce, sour cream and honey, and are absolutely delicious.


9. Lamington – Australia
Happiness is knowing there is cake in the oven. Even better, if it is a lamington cake! A lamington is an Australian cake made from squares of butter cake or sponge cake coated in an outer layer of chocolate and topped with coconut flakes. It can also be coated in raspberry or strawberry jam between two halves.


10. Brigadeiro - Brazil
All we need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt. If you agree to that, the traditional Brazilian dessert is for you! The brigadeiro is made of condensed milk, cocoa powder, and butter and rolled into balls. You know what’s the best part? The tiny balls are covered in sprinkles!
