15 Things That Will Take You Back To Your Bachpan
Give me a chance to relive my childhood days and transport me back in time and, I would shut my laptop for the day. (Don’t get me wrong, I love my job!) But the idea of having kala khatta chuski for 2 rupees or watching a cricket match on a lazy Sunday afternoon is too good a deal to swap places with our bachpan.
After all, if someone told us, adulting was going to be this tough, trust us we wouldn’t wish to grow up and go to college or want a job just so we could have our own money. Mummy-Papa toh paise de hi dete the na?
Bas ab bachpan chala gaya, aur yaadein reh gayi!

1. Mango Frooti
Mango Frooti, fresh and juicy! No other Frooti ad stands out like this one. Papa used to give us 5 rupees for a tetra pack of Frooti aur bas din ban jaata tha.

2. Audio Cassettes
Didn’t we all own these? Well, I remember when it got stuck, I used to take a pen or pencil and fix it.

Kanche nahi khela toh kya khela? If you played this in your childhood, you had an awesome bachpan.

4. Playing Cricket
Every Sunday was meant for playing cricket. Whether it was gully cricket or street cricket, the idea of calling your best friend down to play was exciting.
Bunty, neeche aa raha hai cricket khelne? Even Bunty ki mummy didn’t say no, because she knew Sundays were meant for playing cricket in our bachpan.

5. Doordarshan Screensaver
Hands down! Our favourite time after homework was TV time. But remember the horror on our faces when this screensaver appeared on the TV screen? Anybody agree?

6. Nirma Washing Powder Ad
“Washing powder Nirma, washing powder Nirma, Doodh si safedi, Nirma se aayi”
This tune sure stuck in our heads way back, that we can never forget it ever. Am I right?

8. Cartoons
We admit, the adult in us still loves watching Tom & Jerry, but even before the cat and mouse shararat saga, there was Duck Tales, Tailspins and Chip and Dales. Awww, don’t you just want to go back to your childhood?

9. Spin A Top
Lattu or spin a top was a game for days we didn’t want to run around. The idea of acing this game was when we could spin the top on our palm. Even before we could show-off on Facebook and Instagram, this was our bachpan ka show-off amongst a crowd of friends hurdled in a circle around us.

10. Superheroes
Even before Spiderman and Batman, there was Chacha Chaudhary and Shaktiman. Tell us what were your favourite characters in the 90s? 
11. Bajaj Chetak
Even before you got to do vroom-vroom on a KTM, there was the sasta and tikau Bajaj Chetak. Almost every middle-class family owned one of these and they took their Chetak out every Sunday to visit their door ke padosi. Did your dad own one of these?
12. Opening Tune Of Doordarshan
Even before cable TV happened to us, there was Doordarshan! And the 8 o’clock news was something the entire family would gather around for. We know, that you know how this tune went during the opening of the news segment. *sideeye*

15. Black & White TV
Gone are the days we would watch every cricket match in front of this old black and white television. Friends, family and even neighbours would gather around the television every time India played against Pakistan. And when it didn’t work, we would slap the remote on our palms or bang the top of the television. Don’t you agree?
