Homemade DIY Flavoured Vodka Recipes To Add To Your Vodka-bulary
Scroll through the vodka rack of an alcohol shop and you’ll find a bunch of flavoured vodkas. From Smirnoff Orange to Smirnoff Apple, Vanilla and even Espresso, there are about 4-5 flavours you’ll get at every store. But you already know that, and you’ve probably tried and tested them all.
What if you want a new and different flavour to surprise your taste buds? And, what if I tell you, you don’t even have to run by the store to get it. You simply need a bottle of Smirnoff No.21 vodka and a bunch of home ingredients to whip up these delicious DIY infused vodkas.
PS: These infusions take a few days to settle in. So, prep them a few days before you want to sip or serve.
1. Strawberry Flavoured Vodka Infusion
Lock in the essence of sweet strawberries in this amazing vodka.
Ingredients
750ml bottle Smirnoff No.21 vodka
1 and ½ cup strawberries, freshly sliced
2tbsp simple syrup, optional
Method
Add all the ingredients in a wide mouth jar.
Shake well and store in a cool and dark place.
Allow the strawberries to infuse in the vodka for 5 to 15 days.
Give it a good shake once or twice daily and keep tasting it till the infusion reaches the ideal flavour you want.
When you get the right flavour, strain and pour the vodka in an airtight bottle.
2. Bacon Flavoured Vodka Infusion
Recommended for people who like bacon for breakfast and bacon otherwise too.
Ingredients
750ml bottle of Smirnoff No. 21 vodka
4-5 strips of bacon, crisply cooked along with the fat that gets drained from it
Method
Place all the ingredients in a jar.
Make sure the bacon is completely submerged and then screw on the lid tight.
Refrigerate until you get the desired level of infusion. This could take 3 - 7 days. Keep tasting in between.
Once it is well-infused, use a strainer to remove the bacon and the bacon fat from the vodka.
Repeat till you get a clear pale-yellow vodka.
3. Watermelon Flavoured Vodka Infusion
Watermelon and vodka are a classic. Use this combination to ramp up the flavours of any cocktails. Like a watermelon vodka martini!
Ingredients
750ml bottle Smirnoff No.21 vodka
½ watermelon, diced into cubes
Method
Pour the vodka in a jar and add the watermelon.
Store the jar in a cool place for 4-6 days.
Keep shaking the jar twice a day and test the flavours while doing so.
Strain out the watermelon once the infusion is done to your liking and pour the vodka in a separate bottle.
4. Apple-Pear-Cinnamon Flavoured Vodka Infusion
This heart-warming infusion makes for a great throat warmer to sip on just the way it is or in a cocktail.
Ingredients
750ml bottle of Smirnoff No. 21 vodka
1 red apple, sliced
1 pear, sliced
1 cinnamon stick
Method
Add all the ingredients except the cinnamon stick to a glass jar.
Shake well and store in a cool and dry place for 3-4 days.
Keep checking for taste daily when you remove to shake it.
When it reaches the ideal fruit flavour, add the cinnamon stick, seal and shake again.
Allow it to set for another day and then strain out the ingredients till you get clear vodka.
5. Green Tea Flavoured Vodka Infusion
Vodka and green tea are another great duo. It makes for a great vodka substitute when making a tea-tini.
Ingredients
750ml bottle Smirnoff No.21 vodka
6 level teaspoons of green tea leaves
Method
Crush the green tea leaves lightly and then place it in a jar with the vodka.
Shake well and let it steep for 3 – 10 hours. (the longer you steep, the more bitter it gets)
Keep tasting in between and when it’s infused to your liking, strain out the tea leaves and store the vodka in an airtight bottle.
